LEGALIZING AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND UNLAWFUL ABDUCTION - ORDER FOR DETENTION AND REMAND OF ALHAJI SEIDU ABAGRE
IMPACT OF LEGALIZING AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND UNLAWFUL ABDUCTION BY FILING PETITION
BY MARTIN A. B. K. AMIDU
Alhaji Abagre was unlawfully arrested and detained by the GAF from his home in Bawku to Accra, where he is now in the unlawful custody of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB). The NIB never actually arrested him, but they did have to take steps to legalize his unconstitutional and unlawful abduction by filing a petition with the Circuit Court in Adenta on December 26, 2025, asking for a detention order for the accused Seidu Abagre@Naa Sheriga Kulga II while investigations were carried out. As required by the Constitution of 1992, the application was made and moved the same day, without the person being charged being brought before the court or given the right to a lawyer. The name Naa Sheriga Kulga II is not in the list of chiefs in Ghana, nor is it officially accepted as such. However, President Mahama's government is recognizing Alhaji Abagre through court cases that have been filed.
